fun times on the road

We have safely made it all the way to Page, Arizona in three days. So far it has been a lot of fun. The weather is Hot, Hot, Hot. Yesterday our temperature gage in the car reached up to 38 degrees.

So this is what we did so far...the first night we made it to Butte, Montana and the next morning we were out of there before the 4th of July parade started. People were lining up and saving their spots along the route just like us Calgarians do for the Stampede Parade. Then it was another day of driving to Springville, Utah. Unfortunately there was no gym at our hotel in Springville, so we had to wait till the evening to get my run in for that day, but everything worked out just fine (depite having to run after having a Margarita at Fiesta Mexicana in Page, Arizona). Yesterday was about a 6 hour drive to Page. By the end of the road trip the kids are needing to get out and move around as we all are. Before we got to our hotel in Page we took a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam, which was pretty neat. Ever since I have known Trevor he has had this huge interest in Dams and even though a Dam Tour was not something that I would jump for joy about I knew that Trevor really wanted to do it, so we decided to go behind the scenes for a 46 min tour. It was actually quite interesting and the 45 mins went by fairly quickly. We got to our hotel, checked in, and went for supper. Once we got back to the hotel Trevor and I went to the gym while Grandma took the children to the pool and then we went back to the room to settle for the night.

Today is a new day and we are off to the Grand Canyon. It has only been 4 years since we have last seen the canyon, however, Trevor's mom has not seen it in over 20 years (not that it changes much). The plan is a nice picnic there and then off to Flagstaff for some more good times. Tomorrow we are in Vegas for 3 nights and it will be nice to just be stettled somewhere for a few days. Well enough about the trip...I will hopefully post pics soon.

Something New

Back when Kamden was in grade one she made a bird house. The bird houses were built really well, but when Kamden brought her house home we really didn't have anywhere to put it. It ended up on the patio deck and we told Kamden that the chances of a bird actually making her birdhouse a home was slim to none. Two weeks ago when I was doing yard work I noticed that a bird was flying in and out of her house, so I decided to peek inside. Lo and behold there was a nest with 6 eggs inside. The bird is a Wren (that is what my dad told me). It finally happened the eggs hatched (4 of the 6). I didn't see them hatch but they are definitely brand new. I looked yesterday and they hadn't hatched then, so I figure it happened early this morning. I took some pics...

Only one more sleep till we are off on The Road Trip. We finally got it all packed and even some of it already loaded in the van. I can't even tell you how stressed I get packing for me and the kids and making sure that Trevor had all his stuff together. All in all I think I did okay and I think I have everything. I guess only time will tell.

I began the running challenge yesterday as I thought July 1st would be a good time to start as well as force me to get in at least a run everyday while on holidays. So as before the rules are I have to run at least 20 minutes a day and it has to be done before midnight. Last time I made it just over 200 consecutive day...I believe it was 214 days if I remember correctly, but I'd have to look at my past blogs to find out. That was quite an accomplishment, but we'll see how it goes this time around.

+++++Trevor just informed me that it was 205 days of running consecutive days+++++

I have a new camera, so I will be taking and posting pictures on the blog daily and I will try to post a little update on what we do everyday.

Susan the Slacker

So I haven't posted in awhile. I keep hearing about it from my lovely husband who continuously reminds me that I haven't posted since June the 10th. So, this one is for you Trevor. The kids had their last day of school on Friday the 19th, but lucky me did have me last official day till yesterday. Friday night the kids headed of to grandma and grandpa's for a 2 night sleep over and then to oma and opa's for a three night sleep over. They had some good quality time with everyone and they had a good time. Today my dad came over to help me (well he did the work and I helped him) take down our shed in preparation for our new garage, which we are having built this summer.

I can't believe that the Calgary half Ironman is quickly approaching and I am nervous. I feel under trained, but I am getting some workouts in, but not what I think I should be doing. I know I will finish, but both races (Calgary half and IM Canada) are going to be tough. We are going on vacation and leaving next Friday, July 3rd on a road trip with our main destination being Scottsdale, AZ. We have planned stops in Vegas for 3 nights, and a bunch of other little stops incl. New Mexico and Colorado (I have never been to either of those States, so that'll be fun). We are taking Trevor's mom along, so we shouldn't have any issues with going to the gym early as she will be able to make sure the kids are okay. I have been waiting for this holiday for awhile. Now that I have been working full-time I definitely appreciate the time off a lot more.

Anyways...there's a little update for you...I will try to update more often...

getting there

Had yet another weight in at weight watchers. The meeing was about exercise. At one point she asked us who exercises at least 5 days a week and out of a group of 25 or so only 2 of us raised our hands. There was a greater amount of hands raised when asked if you exercise less than twice a week. I guess I am not that surprised, but I know that exercise has made a huge difference in my life.

Slowly, but Surely

My 2nd week following WW and I am down 5.4 pounds...I am happy with that for sure :)

Tomorrow at work we are having a volunteer "Beach Party". Fortunately, Trevor and I put in enough hours to cover 7 or 8 families. I am looking forward to the program as all the kids have prepared fun songs and poems for us. It should be a really fun. I'll take a lot of pictures and make my typical "smilebox".

Well not much to report on right now...well...my legs are pretty darn sore today. I am thinking that I should have taken swimming off yesterday, but I decided to get some sort of workout in. Tomorrow I need to rise and shine early to get my stuff done. Kid's are off to gymnastics after school. Fun Times!!
